Tea is a plant that grows in tropical and subtropical regions.
Scientifically speaking, tea is known as the Camelia Sinensis. Of about three
thousand kinds of tea from crosses, obtained three kinds of tea outcome of the
process, namely green tea, black tea and oolong tea. Chopped tea leaves and
dried in the sun so that the chemical changes before it is dried tea processing
methods. Processing causes the leaves to brown and black tea flavors become
typical.
The oldest type of tea is green tea. Green tea is well-liked, especially
the Japanese and Chinese. Here the tea leaves undergo a process of heating and
drying it. So that the green color of the leaves can be maintained. Oolong tea,
is a kind of transition between black tea and green tea. The third type of tea
has health benefits, because it contains biochemical bonds, called polyfenol,
including flavonoids. Flavonoids are a group of antioxidants present in
vegetables, fruits and beverages such as tea and wine.
Subclass of polyphenols are flavonols, flavanon, catechins, flavones,
anthocyanidins and biflavan. Derived from the epi-catechin catechins (EC),
Epigallo-catechin (EGC), catechin Epigallo-gallate (EGCG) and quercetin, is
commonly found in tea. EGCg and quercetin, a powerful antioxidant with the
power of up to 4-5 times higher than vitamin E and vitamin C which is also a
potent antioxidant. Antioxidants can prevent cell damage. Any damage to the
cells will contribute more than 50 diseases.
Green tea contains EGCG, as well as black tea, says biochemist. A study by
Dutch researchers say, drinking 4-5 cups of black tea each day will reduce the
risk of stroke by 70% compared to 2 cups of tea a day or less. Other reports
mention more of black tea is associated with low heart attack cases. John
Folts, director of the Medical School, Central Artery Thrombosis Research and
Prevention, University of Wisconsin, USA to find the key properties of
flavonoids in tea. The results showed that flavonoids in black tea, inhibits
the clotting of blood platelet cells. Thus, preventing deep vein thrombosis in
coronary heart disease and stroke. Another study states, fanatical tea drinkers
had higher levels of cholesterol and low blood pressure. It was not clear all
of them directly caused by tea.
Researchers at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, USA to find the
effect of the use of green tea on the skin of 90% is very effective in
protecting the skin from the sun can cause skin cancer. Tea contains fluoride
to strengthen tooth enamel and help prevent tooth decay. In a laboratory study
in Japan, researchers found that tea helps prevent formation of dental plaque
and kill bacteria cause inflammation of the gums.
Japanese study showed that tea-producing area known as the inhabitants
fanatic tea drinker, very low number of deaths caused by cancer. The results of
another study undertaken in collaboration between the research team Oguni and
cancer research center in Beijing to study the effects of green tea extract on
mice fed a ration of food carcinogenic (cancer-triggering substances).
Reportedly, the average rate of cancer in mice that received green tea extract
half of the mice that did not get a green tea extract.
The researchers believe, plifenol known as catechin found in green tea,
helps the body fight cancer cells. Another study conducted Oguni and Dr. Masami
Yamada of Hamamatsu Medical Center, found cathecin kill Helicobator pylori, the
bacteria trigger stomach cancer.
